Firm

Devoted to Montana Personal Injury Clients

Have you been seriously injured or lost a loved one in an auto accident, work site accident, medical error or other incident caused by someone else's negligence? Do you suspect that you are not being treated fairly by an insurance company?

At Dix, Hunt & McDonald, our personal injury lawyers pursue fair compensation for injured people. To schedule a free initial consultation, contact us at our offices in downtown Helena. We are located near the county courthouse with plenty of parking available. We can also meet with you at your home or hospital if you are unable to visit our offices — and we will meet with you on your schedule.

A Firm With a Strong Reputation and Commitment

Our firm was founded in 1959 in Chester, Montana, by William Edward Hunt, Sr., who later served as a Montana Supreme Court Justice from 1985 to 2000. Jim Hunt joined the firm in 1985, and our offices were established in Helena in 1983. Jonathan McDonald joined the firm in 2006.

We are devoted to doing what it takes to help injured people get compensation from those responsible for their injuries, and in pursuit of that goal, we prepare every case for the possibility of going to trial.

Jim Hunt was named Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Montana Trial Lawyers Association in 2004. When you hire our firm, you can be confident that we are prepared to stand up for your rights. And unlike some other firms, we charge the same percentage fee for our services, regardless of whether your case is settled through negotiations or goes to trial.

Unique Qualifications in Key Areas of Practice

In addition to the representation we provide in standard personal injury cases, our firm is particularly known for our work in the areas of brain injuries and insurance disputes.

Attorney Jim Hunt is a member and past chairperson of the Montana Governor's Council on Traumatic Brain Injuries and advises the Montana National Guard on the management of Iraq War veterans with brain injuries.

When the state Insurance Commissioner was sued by insurance companies in a dispute over state regulations regarding ERISA benefits and health insurance, we were hired and successfully represented Montana consumers.
